Maybe it's a new strategy in f1, if it's so ugly others will not want to copy it in case it's actually quick 
But anyways, it's a small step for the Lotus, but a huge achievement for the platypus lobbyists.

I'm always a fan of smaller teams & i really cannot see fGw coming up with a better design so dont be so harsh lol.
At the same time i have to agree with Kronos that the Duck-Billed look may cause some attention from other teams... but only until they see it on track @ 3+ secs off pace

Other teams will have similar nose solutions, I suppose.
This is because technical regulations have been changed for the 2012 season. The maximum allowable nose height has to be lowered, however the height of the monocoque has remained the same (for whatever reasons).

Well this is supposed to be the 2012 ferrari, i know the angle is hard to see but the nose doesnt seem to look anything like that lol

Wel i don't know Flash if u follow the wihte striping it seems to go in a weird angle at the same point.
But i don't think the caterham does look bad. |

having said that, those last two look much better than the Lotus

whats with all the f1 noses ?
why has every designer gone with that nose but not mclaren ?

Coz everyone but mclaren kept the end of the cockpit (where the drivers feet are) at the same height as last season, but the new rules only allow the nosecone to be at a certain height.
Mclaren reduced the height of the cockpit aswell.
